Regular Meeting of East Texas Genealogical Society, Tyler, TX Saturday, September 11, 2004 Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium 2:00 p.m. Speaker: Dr. George Schweitzer on video Program: "Revolutionary War Genealogy Video Presentation" Come join us for a Revolutionary War Genealogy video presentation by Dr. George Schweitzer. While dressed in period costume and assuming the identity of Bill Stubberfield of the Second North Carolina Infantry of the Continental Army, Dr. Schweitzer discuss the reasons the war was fought; the hardships endured by the men; and the strategies behind a few battles. In his usual style of wit and humor, Dr. Schweitzer shares information about locating records of genealogical value from this period and points out reasons why discrepancies in such information as an individual's age may exist between various records. He shares information about various records relating to the war such as Pension Applications, Bounty Land Grants, Certificates of Payment, DAR books, Militia Bounty Land Grants, Microfilm files of the Service Records of the Continental Army, and more.
