    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Horton and Birdsong Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IiB.2ACE/663.2 Message Board Post: I don't have dates for James H. Birdsong, but I can tell you how the Birdsongs are related to the Hortons. Background: In Stewart Co., GA there were the Horton, Birdsong and Meadows families. Some of each came to Gregg Co., TX. Of the Hortons, Sampson L. Horton (GA) married in Stewart Co., GA to Jane Meadows (GA) and had 3 sons - Jesse W.(b. abt. 1856 GA), James M. (b. abt. 1858 GA) and John (b. abt. 1861). Jesse and James Horton came to TX after the 1880 census in Stewart Co., GA. Sarah, the person who posted a response a few months ago to this query, descends of Jesse's line. I descend of James's line. For the 3rd brother John, I haven't been able to find him yet. However, he had a son named Bear Lewis Horton born 07 Feb 1891 in AL and died 20 Nov 1938 who is buried in the Danville Cemetery in Gregg Co., TX. (John must have stopped in AL, rather than going on to TX.) I'm assuming that his son Bear moved from AL to be near his uncles in TX as an adult, because his wife, Lillie B. UNKNOWN was born in Alabama, as well, on 08 Sep 1899 and died in TX on 17 Nov 1964 and is buried next to Bear in Danville. Here's the relation - Bear & Lillie Horton had at least 4 children by the 1930 Gregg Co., TX census: Opal (b. 16 Apr 1920), Ruby May (b. 17 Feb 1923), Sallie and Infant Son (born & died 27 June 1929). Opal Horton married Phillip Birdsong (b. 26 Aug 1911). Opal died 13 Aug 1988 and Phillip died 02 Nov 1995. They are both buried next to Bear & Lillie in Danville. I'm not quite sure how your James H. & Eunice P. Birdsong are related to Phillip, yet, but I'm sure they are closely related. Let me know of the connection. Sincere thanks, Amanda Horton
