Regular Meeting of East Texas Genealogical Society, Tyler, TX Saturday, July 9, 2005 Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium 2:00 p.m. Speaker: Lynna Kay Shuffield Program: "20th Century Military & War Dead Research" Lynna Kay Shuffield, a former Major in the State Military Forces of Texas and a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Command, will give instructions on how to conduct research for veterans of World War I, World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars and the war dead of each conflict. Ms. Shuffield writes the "Our Loose Ends" genealogy column that is published in several Texas newspapers. She has written several books and is a member of many local and state genealogical societies, as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She lectures frequently to genealogy and historical societies and veteran groups. She is the Texas GenWeb County Coordinator for Milam County and San Jacinto County websites. She received the Outstanding Genealogy Website in Texas award that was presented by TSGS for her Milam County website in 2003 and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2004 by the Texas State Genealogical Society. Her current major projects include the "Milam County, Texas War Dead Project" and Texas Cemetery Preservation.
