Surnames: Willingham/Fortson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IiB.2ACE/817.1.1 Message Board Post: Etta, thank you. I also live in Gregg Co.Tx. I had forgotten how generous genealogists can be. I do not think the records can be found, I just wondered if they could be "assumed" by the state or county if cemetery headstones or probate papers verified the deaths. I have given up on finding these official records now. But, I do thank you and others who have responded. My post was incomplete. Below are names: George Washington Willingham, b. 17 Jan. 1877, Ky. d. 8 Dec. 1940 Gregg Co.Tx.(one Gregg census lists "Cap") Ella Fortson Willingham, b. 8 Mar. 1884, Tx. d.11 Nov.1909 Gregg Co.Tx. Both buried West Mt. Cem. Upshur Co.Tx. (headstones) G.W. Willingham funeral through Welch's. I have seen the expense sheet from Welch's records. No additional information was provided. One good suggestion is to try Upshur Co. records. I will do that. Thanks.

Surnames: Willingham- Fortson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IiB.2ACE/817 Message Board Post: My great grandparents lived and died in Gregg Co.Tx.; ie.1909 and 1940. I find no record of either death in county or state records. Is this fairly normal for the times above? Without cemetery headstones, I would have little proof of their lives and deaths. Would it now be possible to have these deaths recorded with cemetery photo proof or possibly probate records ? Has anyone else had these questions?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IiB.2ACE/816 Message Board Post: I am looking for a marriage between Clifford Arnold (deceased now) & Ruth (?). They would have been married between 1930 & 1941. Clifford was married a 3rd time in 1942, so it would have to be before that date. We just recently found 2 half-sisters of my husband (Carl Arnold son of Clifford) & 1 half-brother from Clifford's 3rd marriage. Was wondering if there might be children from the marriage of this Ruth & Clifford Arnold. I would love to know Ruth's last name, date of birth & where born so that I might finish out my husband's genealogy info. Thanks so much for any info. Dottie - cado@tfb.com

    3. Regular Meeting of East Texas Genealogical Society, Tyler, TX Saturday, April 8, 2006 Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium 2:00 p.m. Speaker: Deborah Tiption Kunze Program: "Quaker Research" Our April speaker, Deborah Tipton Kunze, will provide an overview about the formation and history of the Quaker movement, the people and their families, how and where they lived, and their customs and beliefs. Debbie will show us the Quaker migrations in the United States. She will also explain how to use Quaker records to trace a family, even from Ireland to the United States. A native Texan, Debbie grew up in Fort Worth and Abilene. After graduating from Abilene High School, she returned to the Tarrant County area and has lived there ever since. She has one daughter, who is currently in graduate school. Debbie has worked with the federal government over twenty-seven years. As a student of family history, her genealogy career began almost that long ago. Her Texas roots date back to early 1830s with William Stiles, who came to Texas with Austin's Old Three Hundred and lived in current Fort Bend County. Along with her office as president of the Texas State Genealogical Society Debbie is also the District 10 Representative. She is the editor for the Tipton Family Association of America newsletter. In past years, Debbie has served as vice president and projects director for Mid Cities Genealogical Society, where she is the current publicity chair. You are fortunate if you find you have Quaker ancestors who belonged to the Society of Friends, because they were committed to careful record keeping. If you want to find out more about your Quaker roots, come learn with us. Our program speaker, Debbie Kunze, may give you insight and a giant step forward in your quest for Quaker resources and genealogical records! Following a short refreshment period, at approximately 3:30 to 4:00 p.m., the Computer Interest Group of the East Texas Genealogical Society will meet. Beverly Bailey Odom will lead a roundtable discussion on "Photographing Tombstones". Information on upcoming programs can be found at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txetgs/meetings.html East Texas Genealogical Society represent six counties which are Anderson, Gregg, Henderson, Panola, Rusk and Smith counties. ETGS publishes the "East Texas Family Records" four times a year which features articles and records concerning our six counties and a monthly newsletter "The Bulletin" which features information about our society, things of interest to our members and information about our six counties. ETGS has began a First Families of East Texas covering our six counties.
