Stancil and Sarah M. Seabolt. He was born in Georgia. My great aunt tells me he went to Gladewater, Texas and got into the oil business, and became a millionaire. He was supposed to have owned a drug store, a theater, a bank, and a hotel, and was buried in what used to be called "Stancil cemetery" with his wife Irene or Inez. I can't find any information about him. The cemetery he was buried in was supposed to have oil wells inside it. I don't know if this helps.

ETGS regular meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium starting at 2:00 p.m. After the regular meeting and refreshments the Computer Interest Group meets to discuss topics relating to computers and genealogy. The prime requisites for all materials are that they should be as useful in 50 years as they are today. Articles concerning other areas will be used occasionally if of sufficient interest to many people. Material from old and/or rare unindexed books will also be considered. When submitting Bible records, please give name of person possessing Bible, give date of publication, if known, make sure all information is legible and accurate if copied by hand. PUBLICATION: To be considered for publication, an item or article should have a reliable reference and should not be based entirely on "tradition." We do not wish to publish items from books now in print, however, such references may be used as footnotes to clarify sources. Please be certain all material is legible. Xerox copies can be used, but typewritten articles are preferred to avoid errors in transcribing handwritten material. Please include your name, address, e-mail address and day-time telephone number with all material submitted. The editor must retain the right to accept or reject materials and to edit those chosen for publications. Credit will be given to each contributor. Regular Meeting of East Texas Genealogical Society, Tyler, TX Saturday, July 8, 2006 Tyler Public Library - Taylor Auditorium 2:00 p.m. Speaker: Tresa Tatyrek Program: "So You Want To Put Your Research On The Internet" Do you want to make contact with others working on your family research or share with family members that you already know about? In either case, the internet makes it easier to share and update your information if you keep in mind a few simple rules. Tresa Tatyrek's presentation will go over those rules. She will discuss places to put your information and ways of presenting that information. She will show you different software tools to use. Tresa Tatyrek has given presentations on a variety of genealogical topics to different societies including using the genealogy program Family Tree Maker, the Internet, Courthouse Research, and Research Trip Preparation. She teaches a special interest group on Family Tree Maker once a month. Tresa does volunteer work for several groups in the Dallas area. In 2005 she was name Volunteer of the Year by the Dallas Genealogy Society. In 2004 the Grapevine Library also named her as Volunteer of the Year. She served as President of the Dallas Genealogical Society for three years and continues to be involved with the organization. She is involved with Grapevine Namedroppers, a member of the Cross Timbers Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and of the National Genealogical Society. You and I are 1st cousins. My father was Jiggs (Calton Vance Mings). I am his youngest child, Candy, and I would guess that we've met. It's been many years, though. I know that at Angie's (grandma) funeral, in 1982, there were a lot of families members that I didn't know. I was raised in California, and quite a bit younger than most of my cousins, so I rarely saw any of them. Only when dad and I would take a trip back to Texas to see 'Mama Ross'. I did make it to 2 of the William's Family Reunions while living in Texas, though. I do have some pictures buried somewhere that dad gave me several years back. It's been so long since I've had them out, I'm not sure what all is there. I do know that I have a picture of Buck Mings. It's one of my favorites. He's sitting on the wooden sidewalk with 2 other men. What a handsome picture he made. I would love to receive any info you might have of our family.
