Hi Listers, I am trying to find some information on a John Theobald. Our family is in possession of a bible that was presented to him by a Mr. and Mrs. Parker from Sherman, Grayson County, Texas. The inscription reads as follows: Presented to John Theobald, Minister of the Gospel, during the 7th day of August, in the year 1876. The book was given to and accepted by John Theobald as a great token of respect and affection by Mr. and Mr. Parker, Seniors, of the City of Sherman, in Grayson County, in the State of Texas, in the United States, in North America. The only information found in the bible is John Theobald's birth date and place. He was married to a Sarah Flack from Ontario, Canada. Sarah was the sister of my great grandfather. We are trying to trace the family to see if they had any children and what they were doing in Texas. Sarah is buried in Creemore, Ontario, Canada with her parents but John is not buried there.
