December 31, 2003 Listmom wrote the following and she did say "After New Years Day" but the Red Flag went up, "Roll Call", boy was the response fast! >From : TXGRAYSO-L@ROOTSWEB.COM Date : 12/24/2003 7:57 AM Subject : [GRAYSON] Merry Christmas Merry Christmas Yall! I do hope all of you enjoy a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope all your dreams, especially genealogy dreams come true. After New Years Day we will have a roll call, it has been a while and a lot of new members have joined us quietly. Each of these lists have over 300 folks on it so it is about time for a roll call, so think of what you want to say. Please put surnames in the subject line. Susan in Texas Listmom My experience to date with those who subscribe has been a very good one. The web site is a good one too, thanks to Susan Hawkins. So here is my 'brick wall' - Stephen Stephenson was married to Mary 'Polly' Warden, they are my 2nd great grandparents. Where did he come from? He was reported to be the victim of a 'hanging' which he survived. They wanted his 'gold' and they paid with their lives from the same tree. Polly is reportedly, through family folklore, related to Cynthia Ann Parker. They lived South of Tom Bean and I've been to their lands (1997). Their son, Robert Edward (he is my gr.grandfather) married Lucinda Emaline Dunlap October 1883. She was named for relatives lost at Mountain Meadows Massacre. Where did her parents live and where are they buried? William Dunlap & Malissa Byrd Dunlap. Sarah Catherine Stephenson, daughter of Stephen & Polly, married Gabriel T. Sullenger (Jr.?), son(?) of Gabriel T. Sullenger buried at Kentucky Town Cemetery. They married about 1886. I found by accident in 1997 the headstone for Gabriel's brother and sister-in-law in Worden Cemetery. I am working on their story. Margarite Ellen Stephenson, daughter of Stephen & Polly, married a "George", she died in another state and was returned to Grayson and reportedly buried in Cannon Cemetery but I haven't found any proof. The Cemetery listing doesn't appear to be complete and the long time keeper of the records has disappeared. I met her in 1997, but of course I didn't know then what I know now. Annie Eliza Stephenson, daughter of Stephen & Polly, married Seldon Ezra Drummond June 1874, where are his parents? Seldon and Annie buried two babies and then left for OK 1889. Where did they live in the interim and where are the babies buried? Have their story almost completed. John Stephenson, son of Stephen and Polly, was murdered and is buried in West Hill Cemetery. He was married twice. Mary Alice Stephenson, daughter of Stephen & Polly, married Russell Dow Carr and I found their graves in 1997 and still have that research to do. Gabriel Stephenson, son of Stephen & Polly, married Elizabeth Pitts and we know where they buried and we have that family to research. What I am asking for is clues so I may continue my research, albeit by long distance from Oregon. To all fellow subscribers to txgrayso have a nice day and may your efforts this coming year be not in vain. Sincerely, Bob Rankin, Oregon
