Researching my husband's grandparents - Parker Thomas Burns 1877-1911 married to Malinda J. Smith 1875-1912 Parker and Malinda both died when their children were young. Parker died in Bowie County. Then Malinda and the children moved to Independence in Grayson County. She died in 1912 shortly after the move. The children were taken in by neighbors until several of them were eventually sent to the Methodist Children's Home in Waco. Lillian Burns - born in 1902 - went to stay with a family named Hagen Jewel Burns - born in 1904 - went to a family named Hilt in Hagerman Gene Burns - born in 1906 - went to the John Rogers family Willie Mae Burns - born in 1908 - also went to the John Rogers family Arie Lee Burns - born in 1909 - went to the E. B. Wisdom family in Willow Springs (he was adopted by this family) - Arie is my husband's father Lavada Burns - born in 1910 - went to the W. S. Norwood family (she grew up with this family) Malinda had another child from a previous marriage - Thomas Wooten born in 1897. He may have been known as Tommy Burns. His whereabouts after Malinda's death are unknown. All of these children are now deceased. It is difficult to research the family because the parents died at such an early age. The oldest child was ten years old when Malinda died. If anyone has any information they can share regarding this family, it would be greatly appreciated. Your patience in reading all of the above is appreciated also. Judy Burns Oklahoma City
