Hello, I am a new subscriber to this list. Last Monday I visited Sherman, TX for the very first time. I drove right to the county courthouse and parked in front. I checked all around for any signs limiting parking time, but found none. When I got back to my vehicle several hours later, I found a $10 parking ticket on my windshield for violating a "two-hour only" parking ban. I want to warn unsuspecting others like me, about this policy the Sherman Police have of writing parking tickets, even when there is no warning sign posted nearby. After visiting the courthouse, I drove to the library and found that all of the parking slots in their parking area had 1 & 2 hour parking signs. What an unfriendly town for genealogists! There was no one working in the genealogy section at that time, and I found very limited books on Grayson County. Maybe they were in some other department, but all-in-all, I was so disappointed. At least, the ladies working in the courthouse were very helpful. I am looking for information on a John W. LEE who was located on the 1880 Grayson Co., TX census with a wife named Hannah LEE and family, including a grandson named Burr LEE. I believe this John W. Lee to be the same man who deserted his wife in Benton Co., AR just prior to 1860, but cannot prove it yet. John W. LEE and Hannah and children were on the 1870 Fannin Co., TX census, but I found deeds in the Grayson Co., TX courthouse starting in 1866 where John W. Lee purchased land from Mary Elizabeth EWING. My John W. Lee had a son named George Sylvester LEE (my ancestor), and "Syl" (as he was called) had a son the exact same age and name as the Burr LEE listed with the Grayson Co., TX John W.
