I have the obituary notice from 1867 of a Michael Pitman who attended the Virginia Point Methodist Episcopal Church on the border of Grayson and Fannin Counties. According the death notice, he was born in Kentucky on Jan 29 1805. He married his first wife (no name) on Jan 5 1825. She was buried near Pitman's Chapel in Grayson County when she died Jun 5 1854. He married Mrs. Elizabeth J. Wilkins (his surviving wife) Dec 11 1855. Pitman was an ME (South) minister and "served at its altars as a faithful and pious minister until the close of his earthly toils".
