I need help and any help would be greatly appreciated. How do I go about checking tax records for Grayson Co to see if a widow's name appears on the tax list, on probate records, testate or intestate, and orphan court records? Some time between 1895 and 1900, Mira (Myra) SMITH widowed. Her last child was born in 1895 in Grayson Co. and the 1900 Census records in Grayson Co. show she is a widow. Her husband, Sam SMITH apparently died between these dates. At that point in our history, I am presuming that even though the mother is alive, the court would often appoint a guardian to handle any inheritance the children might have.
