OK, I'm really geographically challenged. I *think* my Morris family lived near Howe, maybe Van Alstyne, but as only the 1880 census has them on it and I do not understand the E. D. designations, I'm really suffering with 25 years of frustration in Grayson County. Years ago, I searched the indices of the land records and evidently the Morris' did not own or hold a mortgage on any land -- at least none that I found. And, maybe, when William M. Morris died c. 1891 they did not put up a marker, or maybe it is lost. But, if I had some idea of the cemeteries around Howe and Van Alstyne it would help. I ever hope that the Van Alstyne Cemetery will be posted, but understand William is not listed in it -- I just hope I might find some other possible connections. So, what would I really like to see on the Grayson County website? Info about the records available -- why was the courthouse burned by a mob? Info on how to understand the meets and bounds and find property locations in Grayson county. Info on the churches that might still have records -- I think I need Baptist records but am not sure. Some information on the migrations [and why] into Grayson county. When was the first newspaper published -- who has early newspapers on microfilm? Some information on how people actually got there [rafts/ferries -- trails into Grayson]. Information on the cattle trails -- the railroads. And, I would love to see more records available. Cheryl
