Rusty did not index the names (aargh) in his book and it makes it a bit harder to find a certain name. I am still trying to get a monitor for my old pc that has my FTM on it, and i can answer you better, But I am going to give you a list of names that I can see right off that are connected to the family. It is always hard to get a new computer up to speed. And when you do it slows down. The names in bold are who the book is all about. These families have intertwined for years. They all came to to Grayson Co togehter. The book really tells a story. It is a good book to read. It is more than just facts it is a story of the hardships they endured, plus the good times they had. . From the book We date back to 1250, or near that time, and aredescended from William deBlair, Baron of Scotland and further down it says Our Immigrant Blair, marrie dsarah Sutter, daughter of George Suter of York, Yorke County, PA. ____ Henry Albert Williams (1884-1947) William Blair left Penn for southern Va shortly after the war to broker cotton to mills in Ireland. Instead he found his calling as a consignment agent for Pidmont tobacco. From the book Also in the book are pictures of the families. docs, maps and etc. Rusty Williams did a great job on this book and I read it from cover to cover as I would read any novel. And so until I get into my data I can't answer you questions. So just bare with me till then, Thanks Margie -------Original Message------- From: TXGRAYSO-L@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 4:38:54 PM To: TXGRAYSO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GRAYSON] Blair-Langham, Burden, Acree, Flannery, Johnson, Kirby Margie, it is so good to get a response!! Yes, the parents of James Monroe Blair was James Harvey Blair and Fredonia Wilkins. James Harvey's parents were William Blair and Margaret McCauley. But James Monroe Blair's wife also was from Grayson county. She was Phoebe Alice Langham b. 1872 in Indian Territory. But her parents both died when she was a few months old. She was raised by Samuel J Handy & wife, in Grayson county. Her father was Wiley Washington Langham Jr. and his father was Wylie Washington Langham Sr. The most of the Langhams were from Collin County TX. Are the Handys or Langhams mentioned in the "Scatterlings" book? Lots of Blairs were in Grayson county. I am sure there is a connection, but I haven't found it yet. James Monroe left his father's home in Calhoun cnty Arkansas after his mother died and his father remarried. He was only about 14 when he went to Grayson co. He must have had some relatives there, who he knew about. He was so young to go striking out on his on. But he made a "go" of things somehow. He never lived at his father's house again. But he kept in touch with him, I understand. Does any of the above trigger a thought? I have many John Blairs in my data base. But none have a middle name of Francis. However, most do not have a middle name given. Do you know who the parents of John Francis Blair might be? I'll bet he is related someway!
