Hi, Thanks for your response. Yep, that is the right family. I have found him later on in both California and Oregon, but cannot find anything before he came out west. I was wondering if they actually lived in a neighboring county at the time of the census, instead of Grayson County. Very frustrating! << Moss family Since I subscribe to ancestry.com, I checked the 1850 index for grayson county. Nothing, as you said. ancestry.com just recently added a 1880 index.
