Thanks for the Sherman Daily Register link..now how do I access the actual Biographies. Is there a link or where can I find them please...Anne in Australia
at the libraries by borrowing film from the State library in Austin or by writing them for the article. The info is on the newpaper page; http://www.rootsweb.com/~txgrayso/newsarticles.html Armed with the page/newspaper/date and column you can find out if they have that newspaper in their collection. If they have it then you can write for acopy of it. Or borrow the film for coping it yourself and read other news of the era. The searchable index they have on their website is another index and not the same as the type of index that I find at the Sherman Library. Their index is another way to perhaps find an article. Not all newspapers have been indexed, lots of artilces have been missed I'm sure by both indexers so slow examination of the paper is the best choice but hard to do. You can also buy newspaper microfilm through the state library. A copy is made from their master film. I havenot done so and wish I could. If I had a microfilm reader and films I could put a lot of articles online. Would be wonderful if someone liked to do that type of volunteer work in Sherman or Denison and prepare the articles to upload.
