    1. Re: [GRAYSON] Spears
    2. Have been off line for months buiding a house. Just saw your posting. My maternal grandmother was a Spears from Bedford/ Coffee/ Franklin cts TN. Her father was Noah Morris Spears and mother Margaret Emaline Kitchens. She was deceased by 1886. Noah and his children moved to Grayson ct about 1890 settling near Cannon Community. Later, his widowed sister moved here with her children, where she remarried and lived out her life. We always felt there were more of Noah's brothers and sisters that possibly moved here also. Would love to exchange info and see if any matches up. Donna

    2. Charles & Mary Blair
    3. Although I am researching the Blair line, I noticed that in the will of William Blair who died in 1856 in Carroll County TN, a BENJAMIN ENLOE had married William's daughter Nancy Blair. Benjamin was also the guardian of the children of Nancy's deceased sister's children as well. Do any of you Enloe descendents recognize who Benjamin Enloe is? Thanks, C A Blair

    1. [GRAYSON] Drummond Census query
    2. [GRAYSON] Drummond - Census Query August 6 Hello researchers, I have checked out the Grayson County Web site but failed to find any link to Mortality for 1875-1887 or Census for 1880. My quest is to find my Stephenson, Dunlap, Drummond, Sullenger links. Annie Eliza Stephenson married Seldon Drummond in June 1874; her parents were Stephen and Mary Ann 'Polly' Stephenson, who lived South of Tom Bean. Seldon was born in Harris Co.?, West Virginia (according to his obit). They buried at least two children in Grayson before they left in 1889 for Lone Grove, Indian Territory, now Carter Co., OK. I'm looking for a Mary 1877- 1879 and a Ora 1886-1887 and another child. Any suggestions? gr.gr. grandson of Stephen

    2. Charles & Mary Blair
    3. Margie, it is so good to get a response!! Yes, the parents of James Monroe Blair was James Harvey Blair and Fredonia Wilkins. James Harvey's parents were William Blair and Margaret McCauley. But James Monroe Blair's wife also was from Grayson county. She was Phoebe Alice Langham b. 1872 in Indian Territory. But her parents both died when she was a few months old. She was raised by Samuel J Handy & wife, in Grayson county. Her father was Wiley Washington Langham Jr. and his father was Wylie Washington Langham Sr. The most of the Langhams were from Collin County TX. Are the Handys or Langhams mentioned in the "Scatterlings" book? Lots of Blairs were in Grayson county. I am sure there is a connection, but I haven't found it yet. James Monroe left his father's home in Calhoun cnty Arkansas after his mother died and his father remarried. He was only about 14 when he went to Grayson co. He must have had some relatives there, who he knew about. He was so young to go striking out on his on. But he made a "go" of things somehow. He never lived at his father's house again. But he kept in touch with him, I understand. Does any of the above trigger a thought? I have many John Blairs in my data base. But none have a middle name of Francis. However, most do not have a middle name given. Do you know who the parents of John Francis Blair might be? I'll bet he is related someway! 1. [GRAYSON] Nevins, Rencher, and "unknown"

    3. Hi list I've been lurking for a few months and would like some help in solving a mystery. I have a branch of our family that lived in Grayson Co. from about 1900 til at least 1920. Here's the story ..... Edward Rencher was born in 1853 in Noxubee, Ms. He married Anna Marie Beasley, and they lived in De Soto Parish, La. for a while, then moved to Grayson Co. Edward died in 1907 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery. Jack S Rencher, son of Edward and Anna Marie Rencher, married Genieve J. (last name unknown) probably around 1914-15 in Grayson Co . They had at least three children. Genieve and two of the babies all died in 1918. She listed in Fairview Cemetery... don't know if the babies were buried there or not (Their names were Jamie and Jasmia) I think there was a terrible flu epidemic that year. The 1920 Grayson Co. Census lists Jack as a boarder, age 30, widowed and working as clerk in a dry goods store. At least one brother, Edward Rencher, Jr., had already moved to California. The 1920 census lists Edward Rencher and his wife Bessie living with Bessie's Brother, Authur Nevins and his wife Gladys in Santa Barbara, Ca. The 1930 Census lists Edward, his wife Bessie, his daughter Anna (age 7) and Bessie's mother Lula Nevins, age 56. Both Bessie and her mother were born in Tx. (Hopefully Grayson County!) By 1930 Jack S. he had moved to Riverside Ca., and is listed in the census with wife Velma, age 31 (b. in Colorado) and son Jack S. Jr. age 16. (born in Tx.) My hope is that someone recognizes one of these names, and has a connection. I would love to fill in the blanks for Genieve, deceased wife of Jack S. Rencher and Edward Renchers wife, Bessie Nevins. (another brother Charles Rencher was accidently killed in 1920 in a shotgun accident. He was 16 years old.) Thanks for any clues... bev
