    1. [GRAYSON] McDADE-DNA Project
    2. Janice R Freeman
    3. From: Janice R Freeman mcdade-dna@juno.com To: ALL McDADE Descendants Announcing: McDADE-DNA Project Visit: the Sept McDade Clan Davidson home page at mcdade.bravepages.com and go to the: McDade Surname DNA Project page under Table of Contents If you have questions, contact me at McDADE-DNA@juno.com You can read more about DNA Testing through the Links at mcdade.bravepages.com or FamilyTreeDNA.com. We are inviting Y O U to participate in our McDADE-DNA Project which we are expecting to be a valuable asset to our paper trail research to show how our various McDADE lines throughout the world may be connected thru : 1. your direct participation if you are a direct line McDADE male descendant (direct male in your McDADE line all the way back to your earliest known McDADE ancestor, including yourself) by participating in the DNA testing. OR 2. your indirect participation (because you are or became a male descendant of a McDADE daughter at some point in your McDADE line OR are a McDADE daughter) by finding the fathers, brothers, uncles, nephews, cousins that are direct line male McDADE descendants in your family and urging them to participate under 1. above. First, if it is at all possible, please participate in the 25 marker test as this gives us a much better analysis of the known, possible, or potential relationships. Each and every participant is an important link in connecting our various lines whether our ancestor was an early arrival in the 1600's or 1700's or a later arrival in the 1800's or 1900's in Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, USA, etc. Our ancestors may have come directly from Scotland or via Ireland, but with McDADE as the primary spelling, we are probably all cousins in one way or another. You may contact me at any time if you have questions. There is no medical connection with any of this, just a check on the male DNA markers that are passed father to son almost intact for many generations, with an occasional mutation. It is especially important to have a male participate (regardless of age) if the male is the only or one of two male McDADE descendants of a father, grandfather or great grandfather. Unfoutunately, the daughters can not do this for this particular easy, efficient, and economical test. I hope you will participate in the launching of this great project for our McDADE's everywhere. Please inform others you feel should be contacted or send me names, e-mail addresses, and or snail addresses and phone numbers for other McDADE kin. I can't wait to see how our markers reveal our potential relationships, especially if many of you will select the 25 plus marker DNA test. 3. Can anyone tell me the names of all the cemeteries around Howe, TX? I am starting from there to try to locate my ancestors. So far I have located family in the Holloway and Hall cemeteries. I am interested in locating Mary (Nellie) Catherine Miller and her son Lee Andrew Baker, Jr. I have two different death dates for Mary one is 1902 and the other is around 1910. I would like to know if anyone knows the name of: MILLER Mrs A E MAR 06,1836 DEC 21,1912 who is buried in the Holloway Cemetery. My great great grandmother's last husband was known as Buck Miller. 3. I am searching for information on Henry Thompson Baker who married Hollie Ann Sink. They had the following children: Clyde Baker, Ellis Baker, Lillie Baker, Ben Baker and Nellie Baker. Henry's parents were Lee Andrew Baker and Mary (Nellie) Katherine White. According to family stories Lee Andrew was drafted into the Confederate Army and died in South TX around 1865. Lee and Mary had three boys: Joseph Sylvester Baker (my great grandfather) Henry Thompson Baker and Lee Andrew Baker, Jr. Lee Andrew Baker and Mary Katherine White were supposedly married in Grayson county in 1854. After Lee Andrew died, his widow married William (Tarleton) G Bailey and they had several children. Then she married a man named Buck Miller. Mary was supposed to have died between 1902 and 1910 in a horse and buggy accident. I am not sure where she is buried. Her father was supposed to be a Dr. Andrew White. Henry and Hollie are buried in Grayson County. I am trying to find any descendent who might have information to help find Henry's parents. 2. Hi, Thanks for your response. Yep, that is the right family. I have found him later on in both California and Oregon, but cannot find anything before he came out west. I was wondering if they actually lived in a neighboring county at the time of the census, instead of Grayson County. Very frustrating! << Moss family Since I subscribe to ancestry.com, I checked the 1850 index for grayson county. Nothing, as you said. ancestry.com just recently added a 1880 index. There was one Churchill Moss in Flounce Rock OR, born in Texas in 1844/45. If you do not have this information, email me direct and I will send it to you. Pat Russell >>

    3. Hi Mary, Call the court house and tell them what and who you are looking for. The exact dates help a lot. They will tell you if they have the record. Ask how much it is for a non certified copy, send them money & you get the record of that marriage. They will not give out any additional information. Don't forget, if you tell them non certified it will save you money.
