    3. John H. Hutchcraft b. 1824 in Bourbon Co., Ky son of Reuben Hutchcraft and Frances Hedges Hutchcraft married Molly Jones, 1856 in KY and moved to Grayson Co., TX where John H. Hutchcraft died in Sherman in 1889 and is buried. Our John Hutchcraft birth - unknown parents/sibllings - unknown married Mary Charlotte Crisel in Il in 1849 and divorced in 1855. (in time to return to KY and remarry) John H. Hutchcraft b 1824 KY middle initial H. likley stands for Harrison which is John H's mother's maiden name. OUR John Hutchcraft's first-born son is William Harrison Hutchcraft. PLUS - we have seen a picture of Reuben Hutchcraft and we have several Hutchcraft's that have the same drawl on the mouth..... Can anyone add to this mystery? Are they one and the same? I believe they ARE!!!!! Gail Hahn Hutchcraft ladybug@arends-sons.com

    1. [GRAYSON] Stephenson Query
    2. October 22 Does anyone know about a William Henry Stephenson who died December 26 1913 and was a resident of Collinsville for about 36 years? Where was he buried? His wife was Emma J. (Maiden name unknown) and they were married October 24 1869 in Mississippi. His place of birth I do not have. In my family there was a William Henry who was born about 1846, possibly in Texas, to Stephen Stephenson and Mary Polly Warden, listed in the 1850 Census, living with his parents in the home of her parents. They lived in the Tom Bean area. I recently acquired a copy of Widow's Application for Pension from State Library. This William had a sister, Mary, who was married to a McGaughy. She does match my William's siblings. This William could have been an Uncle to my William of 1846. According to the Application William Henry was living in Collinsville before and after the Civil War and that he served in Company A of the 11th Alabama Regiment for 4 years. I have been trying to ascertain the 'origins' of Stephen Stephenson without much luck. He was born May 13 1822, place of birth uncertain, parents unknown, married abt. 1845 to Mary Polly Warden (Worden), lived in and around Tom Bean, died February 5 1909 and is buried in Vittitoe Cemetery. He was my gr.gr. grandfather. I have visited his land and his burial place and wish to learn more about him. Thank you, Bob Rankin

    3. Hello to my fellow researcher, Concerning surname "ALEXANDER" ,this is all I know at this time. Mrs. Claude Alexander is mentioned in the obit for JOHN H. DUNN which is his daughter. Mr. Dunn died in 1944. In Mr. Dunn's obit from the Sherman Democrat newspaper it says he was a blacksmith in Sherman for 35 years, he was 84 , died at the home of his daughter and son in law, Mr. & Mrs. Claude Alexander, 423 N. Cleveland. They were living in Sherman in 1944, the obit does not mention his daughters first name in the obit. John H. Dunn was buried in Westhill cemetery in Sherman. For those on the Grayson county TX list & researching this ALEXANDER surname my know this John H. Dunn and his daughter who married CLAUDE ALEXANDER. Now , this was not the only child for John H. Dunn: he had a daughter named ETHEL WHISENHUNT & a son , JOHN T. DUNN. I don't suppose you have access to the census, marriage records? Can you help me? Thanks a million for your help and for responding to my email. Sincerely, Vicki ----- Original Message ----- From: <PRuss452@aol.com> To: <TXGRAYSO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 20, 2003 7:56 PM Subject: Re: [GRAYSON] Surnames: DUNN,JONES,ALEXANDER,WHISENHUNT,PICKLE,HOLLOWAY > I am researching Alexander, namely Almarine Marshall Alexander and his > descendants. > > Melba Alexander Russell > > > ==== TXGRAYSO Mailing List ==== > --- Author Retains Copyright --- > -- Copyright 2001 Author -- All Rights Reserved > Post to List: TXGRAYSO-L@rootsweb.com > Unsubscribe Request: TXGRAYSO-L-request@rootsweb.com > ARCHIVES: http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl >

    3. The Telling our Stories books are not genealogical books. They are books that are just tales of the olden times and come from a group of creative writing students. I hope I have time to take his writing course someday but haven't so far. The books are in most libraries. I have even bought them at garage sales. They are great stories. I will try to find out why Frontier Village suspended the book. Meanwhile I will always accept family stories and pictures for the net in the biographical area. I will be taking a trip in a week and half but will only be gone 9 days. and so if you send something and I dont get it loaded there will be a little gap in time. Always though leave out the living info for things on the web. 3. I'm not sure of why it was set aside right now. Perhaps the amount of interest was not enough I will try to find out. 3. Vicki, Deryl and Others, I also prepared 3 biographical sketches for the Frontier Village Book Vol III. Publication was "suspended" according to John Crawford whose e-mail address was the contact. Mr. Crawford said "Dr. Jerry Lincecome of Austin College has published three "Telling Our Stories" books in recent years and is preparing another one which we fear drew stories we might have gotten" I assume these books are available in the Grayson County area libraries? My articles (and a picture I had prepared to use) were put on my webpage under "Douglas/Gill" http://www.ktc.com/personal/shirlwbb/ Shirley Webb shirlwbb@ktc.com
