DON; I HAVE PORTIONS OF THE 1900 AND 1910 CENSUS BUT YOU NEED TO KNOW THE TOWNSHIP, ED.NUMBER. AND SOMETIMES DISTRICT. FIRST,YOU NEED TO USE SOUNDEX. ALL THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE IN YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY. AN INDEX WILL GIVE YOU THE SUR-NAME NUMBER. FROM THERE YOU GO TO CARD-EX(STATE OF TEXAS) AND LOOK FOR THE 3 DIGIT SUR-NAME NUMBER. THE IS ON MICRO-FILM. THE LIBRARY MUST HAVE A MICRO-FILM MACHINE TO RUN THIS FILM THROUGH. NOW , THE SUR-NAME WILL BE LISTED IN ABC ORDER. NOT ONLY WILL YOUR WETZEL NAME BE LISTED(IF THEY WERE LISTED IN THE 1900 CENSUS)BUT OTHER SURNAMES CLOSE TO THE SAME BEGINNING SPELLING FOR EXAMPLE, WET. EACH NAME WILL LIST LIKE THE1900 CENSUS WITH THE NAME, HEAD OF FAMILY AND FAMILY MEMBERS LISTED ETC/ THE TOWN, COUNTY WILL ALSO BE LISTED AND WHAT STATE THE PERSON WAS BORN. UP IN THE LOWER RIGHT HAND CORNER WILL LIST THE CENSUS FILM LOCATION. NEXT YOU GO TO THAT LOCATION AND GET THE FEDERAL 1900 CENSUS. THE CARD-X SYSTEM IS GREAT BECAUSE IT LIST E! VERYONE IN TEXAS THAT HAS THE SAME NUMBER OF THE SURNAME YOU ARE SEARCHING. GRAYSON CO. IS A LARGE COUNTY. I HAVE FOUND MANY OF MY FAMILY CENSUS THIS WAY. I HOPE I HAVE NOT CONFUSED YOU. YOU PROBABLY ARE FAMILIAR WITH SOUNDEX ALREADY. I AM LUCKY THAT I HAVE AVAILABLE A GREAT GENEOAGY DEPT ON HAND WITH 10-15 MICRO-FILM MACHINES AND EVERY STATE CENSUS RECORDS ON FILM/AFTER ONE YEAR, GOING EVERYDAY, 5DAYS A WEEK, I WAS ABLE TO TRACK MY SURNAMES FROM ENGLAND, VA.,TN.,KY.A ND NOW TEXAS.GOOD LUCK. LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY FURTHER NEEDS. Does anyone have an index for the 1900 and 1910 census? Trying to determine when Charlie C. Wetzel and Callie Burk came to Grayson County. Thanks Don
Genivieve J. Brown (Jamie) b. 1892 married John Samuel Rencher prior to 1913. She died in the flu epidemic of 1918 along with two of her children, Jasmia and "infant" Rencher. The only survivors were her husband, and one son, Jack S. Rencher. John S and his son moved to California with Johns mother and siblings about 1923. Jamie was buried in Fairview Cemetery along with her father-in-law (died 1907) and her children and one brother in law, Charles Rencher who died in 1920 of an accidental gunshot wound (he was 16 yrs old.) I would love to know if anyone is familiar with this family bev
