    2. I'm interested in records for the sheriffs and constables in Grayson ct in the early 1900's. In particular, James or Jim Spears. Served under Sheriff (I think) Echols. Also, would like to find out if there are any surviving criminal or district court records from about 1910 to the 1930's.

    1. [GRAYSON] Roll Call - Alexander D. Moore
    2. Hi, Alexander MOORE (AKA A. D. Moore) and wife Keziah came to the Whitesboro area in Grayson County shortly after1850. The first recorded bond that I found in his name in Grayson Co. was in 1852. I couldn't find them on the 1860 Census but I know they were there as there were many deeds recorded during this time. I did find them in the 1870 Census. The last deed that I found bearing both names was in 1874 and there was one bearing only his name in 1876. He is found, a widow, on the 1880 Census in Young County with the youngest two children; a son Hugh, age 18, and Benjamin, age 14. Their data: Alexander D. Moore b. 1814 VA, d. ? probably Young Co., TX Keziah (Barnett) b. 1825 MO, d. 1874-80 probably in Grayson Co., TX Daughter of Hugh Barnett III and Mary Cox) Children: Mary Ellen b. 1844 MO d. ? Helen Isabel b. 1847 MO d. ? Francis H. (f.) b. 1848 MO d. ? Charles Wm. b. 1849 MO d. ? - - BIG Gap -- (The 1860 Census data would sure help!) Hugh b. 1864 TX d. ? Benjamin Marion b. 1866 TX d. 1941 Sanger, CA (All birthplaces from Census data) Questions: 1. When did Keziah die? Where is she buried? 2. What happened to all the girls? 3. Were there other children born between 1849 and 1864? 4. Finally...What about Charles Wm.? There are indications that Charles Wm. married an "Elizabeth" (M.E.) and that he stayed in the area when his father and brothers moved to Young Co. Does anyone recognize this family? Thanks, Vicki Ringer Woodland Hills, CA

    2. Charles & Mary Blair
    3. Thanks for the response to my George Brown! You asked if he had any brothers. I have no idea. I have done Blair research and George Henry married a Blair. I only recently started looking for parents and siblings for him. I am sorry that I cannot give you a useful answer. I am assuming his family was also from Grayson Co, because he married in Grayson Co. But need to find something that will give me a specific place to research. I have not been able to find him on a census with parents and siblings as of this time. Right now, his data is all I have. But will keep your email and get back with you if I find a Thomas E. Brown as a sibling etc. Thanks so very much for cantacting me. 3. I know of some Ayres, not directly related to me, that were from Grayson County and some that were from Marshall County Oklahoma, which is just across the state border. I do show a listing in some papers I have for a Walter, unknown alias name, with no vitals, other than he married a Phebe ??. Maybe the obit shows her name???? There also were some Crook's from the same part of Marshall County area, and was wondering if your grandma was one of them???? E-mail me direct if any of this looks like anything you may know of. 3. Hi Deryl, I was so happy to hear from you! Can you help me with information on this line? My aunt who is Wanda Brown-Millsap lives in Fort Collins CO & this is her family line. My email to the list was the first query concerning her line. My Aunt is a wonderful person who grew up as I did in Sherman TX area & she said most of the Brown family are buried in & including Eva MacDougal-Brown in Pilot Grove cemetery in Pilot Grove TX. I have not had the time to seek this out. I just got this information from my Aunt at Christmas when I was there in CO. How can we help each other to complete our lines? Questions: Which one was born in 3-28-1881? Eva or Laura? Do you have all of the names of the 10 children John & Mary McDougal had? Do you know when Eva or was it Evie, was born and died? I look forward in hearing from you again. Best Wishes for a happy search. 1. [GRAYSON] Macomb in Grayson County
    2. V. Lane
    3. Macomb was the birthplace of my mother, Vera Porter, in 1900, and her brother, Earl.. One of her brothers, Ralph, said that he was born in Whitesboro. Addiebelle Senter Porter, a step-sister to Martha Jane Senter Kiersey, lived with her husband, Will Porter, in Grayson for a short time enroute from Alvarado in Johnson County to Tulia in Swisher County. I did not find any Porters listed, so I'm assuming that the family arrived in Grayson County because of M.J. Kiersey. Is there a 1900 Census Record for Macomb in Grayson County? I certainly appreciate the 1908 Grayson County Plat Book. Thanks for sharing via the net! By the time this book was published the Porters were leasing land in Ceta Canyon (later Palo Dura Canyon). The Indian signs on the canyon were created by my five lively uncles, according to their earlier stories.
