    1. [GRAYSON] death records

    3. Does anyone know whether there are any records of deaths in Grayson County for the time period 1880-1885? I have checked the tombstone inscriptions, but I thought there might perhaps be an additional source of data. Thanks, Marge Currin

    3. My grandmother, Amanda Emma Mckinley, 1872-1958 told of spending some time in an orphan's home in Sherman when she was around 8 years old. Do any of you know of such a place or where one might find records of such a place. It is possible that it could have been Catholic. Yours truly Clyde W. Burns [email protected]

    3. I have a Mitchell family from Grayson Co, Tx. I don't know that much about them but maybe this will help you. James Anderson Mitchell b. 1840 Cassville, MO m. Bettie E. Keech 1871. Children: Ida May Mitchell Lavenia Alice Mitchell John Daniel Mitchell Cora Isabel Mitchell Mary Ella Mitchell (Mollie) b. 1882 Cooke Co, TX Mollie Mitchell m. Hineman Harley Hale at Whitesboro, TX 1899. I haven't worked on this line very much. I don't know anything about James A. Mitchell's parents or siblings. I'll look through my records to see if I can find anything else. I wrote to descendants from this line a few years back but haven't worked on it for awhile. I remember finding some Mitchell's buried at County Line Cemetery which is just west of Dixie. I don't know if that cemetery has another name or not. 3. In 1846 or 1847 Joseph G. Mitchell and family moved to Grayson Co. He died in 1847. His children were Susan Elizabeth, Thomas L., Mary Jane and Marcus W. Mitchell. His family remained there for years. His widow, Jane C. Garrison Mitchell married & divorced John R. Bean. His daughter, Susan Elizabeth, b. 1840 m. (1) Philip Wilson and (2) David Mays. This group moved to I.T. (OK) in the 1870's. Does anyone out there know anything about what happened to Thomas L., Mary Jane and Marcus W. Mitchell? (I assume they were born around the time their sister Susan Elizabeth was - 1840.) Also, when I was there (about 15 years ago) someone told me that an important Indian had been buried somewhere around there, but they could not remember where or who. There was suppose to be a large wooden head marker. Has anyone heard anything about that or who it was? A Dr. Britton had done a lot of research about this family, but I have been unable to contact him by phone. Does anyone know if he is still there? Any help will be appreciated. It took me 15 years to find the father of Joseph G. Mitchell and now I would like to know about his other children. Marlene

    3. Hello List, I just usually hit the (Reply to ALL) when I want it to go to the entire list, and (Reply to Author) when I want it to go to the original author of the email, only. Some of the Lists I am on are set up to go to the entire list no matter which I hit to reply, and there is a lot of nonsense on some of them, means using the delete key many times, so glad they are not all set to default that way. I would appreciate knowing the answers to the present questions about the cemeteries as I have many ancestors in that general area. Thanks for sharing, Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick -----Original Message----- From: Sonia & Bill <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, May 15, 2000 10:24 AM Subject: Re: [GRAYSON] Texoma Lake area cemeteries >Vicki, >Your response only went to me and you obviously thought it went to the list >since you said "how about it listers". Your response does not go to the list unless you type in that address, which I did on this message. When you click on reply, on this list, it goes privately to the person who placed the query. 3. For information on some of the communities of Grayson County (or any other county), here is a great website: http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/ Enter the search words GRAYSON COUNTY to see how many "hits" you get. It will probably answer some questions about those small communities where our ancestors once lived - how they began, what their history is, where they are located. Shirley Webb [email protected]

    3. Is there any way to get a correction made for a Grayson Co cemetery? I have a couple of corrections for Basin Springs. I wrote to Mike Cross but never got an answer. I don't know if he still has the same e-mail address. He may be bombarded with messages and doesn't have time to answer. I can send a photo of the tombstone in question to anyone who can make that correction happen. Thanks, Sonia
