    1. Re: [GRAYSON] lost
    2. Jack, It has been my experience that sometimes if they were traveling they got missed. I have had the same problem sometimes. Try Oklahoma just above the line of Whitesboro in the Indian Territory. You'd be surprised how many of them may have gone up there for a while. Many of them up in Northern Texas went back and forth from time to time. My families did do that. Carolyn

    2. Hey all, Is there any evidence that anyone else has run across of people being missed on the 1860 census? Or, does anyone know why someone who should have been in Grayson County in 1860 would not have shown up on the 1860 census? Was there a commute from OK or something? My family has to have been around the Whitesboro area. They were married from 1859-1867 to people who also lived around the Whitesboro. But they do not show up on the 1860 census. None of them. However, one does show up on the 1870 census in Whitesboro and I know the rest of them moved on by that time. Jack

    1. [GRAYSON] Riney's & Boone's in Larue Co., Ky. and Texas
    2. Paul Steveson
    3. I am looking for any information about Joseph Richard Riney and his wife Theresa Elizabeth Riney married about 1866, possibly in Larue Co., Ky. Theresa Riney's maiden name was Boone, was there Boone's in Larue Co. at this time? I have listed what information I found in the census records. Joseph and Theresa moved to Grayson Co. or possibly Denton Co., Texas around 1887. Theresa is in the 1900 Census for Grayson Co., TX. I would like to locate a marriage record for Joseph & Theresa and also the names of their parents, siblings. Was Joseph in the Civil War, he was old enough? does anyone have access to Civil War records for Larue Co.? Are there any Riney, Boone kin out there? 1870 Census Larue Co., Ky. in Prices Pct. Joseph R. Riney age 29 Theresa - wife age 24 William P(?) son age 3 John C. son age 1 1880 Census Larue Co., Ky.Dist. #3 (Looks Like) Otter Creek. All born in Kentucky. Joseph R. Joseph R. Riney died around 1895 in Texas. Both of these facts were obtained from Anner's daughter who is 92 years old. On the 1900 Texas census I found the following. 1900 Census Grayson Co., TX. Terraths (Theresa) Riney age 53 born Kentucky first name is very difficult to read. She is the head of the house, which makes sense as Joseph had died in 1895. Mary Riney daughter born Sept.1870 in Kentucky Edward Riney son born Nov. 1875 in Kentucky Charles Riney son born Jan. 1878 in Kentucky Francis Riney son born Mar. 1880 in Kentucky Nannie Riney daughter born April 1882 in Kentucky Hellana Riney daughter born Jan 1887 in Kentucky Thomas J. 1. [GRAYSON] Library lookup
    2. David McCAIN
    3. Is anyone out there possibly willing to do an obituary lookup on newspaper microfilm - should such exist at the Sherman Public Library? Searching specifically for an obit for Charles W. Brown, died Jan. 7, 1904 spouse of Mary E. (Mollie) Brown. Am interested in finding the obit to see IF he died in Sherman before ordering a death certificate - he could have died in St. Louis. I will be most happy to pay for a microfilm copy, postage and make a contribution to the Sherman Library in your name for your effort. My deepest gratitude to Michael Cross and his efforts to get West Hill Cemetery info on line - it really helped a long distance researcher. I have now broken through my "brick wall" and am moving forward. If anyone is willing, please respond on my personal email as I will have to un- subscribe shortly as we will be gone for two weeks. Will be happy to do any lookups in exchange in New England territory, if possible. Thanks loads Eleanor McCain 10 Kensington Rd. Concord, NH 03301-2525 [email protected]

    1. [GRAYSON] SMITH
    2. Hiram "Ben" Cooper
    3. I need help and any help would be greatly appreciated. How do I go about checking tax records for Grayson Co to see if a widow's name appears on the tax list, on probate records, testate or intestate, and orphan court records? Some time between 1895 and 1900, Mira (Myra) SMITH widowed. Her last child was born in 1895 in Grayson Co. and the 1900 Census records in Grayson Co. show she is a widow. Her husband, Sam SMITH apparently died between these dates. At that point in our history, I am presuming that even though the mother is alive, the court would often appoint a guardian to handle any inheritance the children might have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a good day! Ben Cooper (Bella Vista, Arkansas)

I live in Sherman,Grayson County and will do all I can here.I have long wanted to learn more about the people on the wagon train with my ancestors, the Marshalls and Jarboes. My greatgrandfather John Thomas Marshall would have been a very young boy on that trip ,as he was born in Greene County KY. His first wife was Sarah Lavonia Teague. Sarah Lavonia was the daughter of Franklin Caldwell Teague and Malinda Louisa Newton,so I am wondering if the Teagues and Newtons may have been with that group. In looking back at my records I think perhaps this particular wagon train must have come to Kentuckytown in 1854 rather than 1852,as John Thomas Marshall's birthdate is listed as November 16,1852,Kentucky. On the other hand Sarah Lavonia,s is listed as Feb 8,1856 Kentuckytown TX. This is an exciting project and I am looking forward to working with everyone on it. Our ancestors need to have their story told. I just wish one of them would have helped out a little bit by leaving a detailed daily diary or log book so we could read first hand about all their experiences on the trail.
