Janice, McLean is my hometown, and to my knowledge, there were no hospital services there until the 70s, and many babies were born in Shamrock, 20+ miles to the east, in Wheeler County. My mother went to Amarillo for two births in the 40s, but there were services closer...Pampa had a hospital. If you haven't tried sending for a birth certificate yet, you might do so....knowing the mother's exact name, baby's name and the exact date of birth should get any cert. filed at the time.
