Color me surprised to get kicked out of a "volunteer" program that I have been working with since I was asked to take over Menard County in the late 1990's. And after careful consideration, I decided a "public response" was required to honor the organization I loved when Barry Best, Mike Basham and Trey Holt were my mentors and about the only "rules/regulations" we had were not to steal/publish copyrighted material, put the TXGenWeb/USGenWeb logo/links on our site and volunteer to help genealogist for free. It's prettyself-evident that this is no longer the same organization when you can be awarded the Mike Basham Memorial County of the Month award in July 2013 and then out of the blue, some unknown Mr Felihkatubbe informs you that you have been "removed" from the organization, with no explanation of what your "transgression" was, beyond my SC or the Election Committee decided I needed to be "gone" from Menard TXGenWeb. My response?: I pay for my own website and will continue to collect, transcribe and provide free genealogical material for my home county whether I have a GenWeb affiliation or not, because that's what I love to do.......so let's get down to business. I have never had a "co-coordinator" giving me information for my site and have had very few "donations", so it will be pretty easy to locate anything that might belong to TxGenWeb as soon as I go over my "permission" letters/emails. Right off the top of my head, I remember a bibliography that Barry made which I kept on the new site, a wedding license donated to TXGenWeb about two years ago and a Texas map that will "belong" to your organization if it's on my site. The rest is copyright protected as my personal transcriptions/work as are several items I was allowed to "share" on my site that came to me as the Publisher of the Menard Quarterly, President/Secretary/Treasure of the Menard Genealogical Society, or a member of the Menard Historical Society/Museum ...but NOT as a TXGenWeb CC. I can provide documentation to back this up, because my "mentors" were quite proficient in teaching me about getting "precise written permission" before I used material that wasn't my own work. It shouldn't take me very long to find what pertains to TXGenWeb, so where do I send it to? Alicia Brown Menard, Texas On Monday, February 17, 2014 5:14 PM, J. M. A search of the USGenWeb site named above showed that you are no longer involved with the project; the USGenWeb Election Committee has removed your name from the membership since you are no longer with the project. or 2. Or the SC of the above listed project has informed the Election Committee that you are no longer with the above named project. or 3. You have requested that we remove your name from the above project listed. If you are still with the USGenWeb in other projects, only this project has been removed from your records. If you receive this message and feel that this is an error, please contact me. Election Committee home page: http://usgenweb.org/usgwelections/ Thank you! J. Alicia, You have not been removed from the TXGenWeb. I will take care of everything. Please be patient and give me a chance to set this right.
