Need to change the pages from "fluid" to "fixed" width. In Kompozer, look for something that gives you the page settings, probably it reads something like "page size 100%" which means that it makes the page spread across the user's monitor. If you change this to a definite size, something like 980px then the page will always be that size on everyone's monitor. Your friend will see the page in the center of the screen and the background image on either size.
