    3. Actually, you don't have to install an email client. I use two computers all the time (sitting side by side). I have my email client on one computer and do all my email on that computer. However, I occasionally want to click on a link in a web page on the other computer and send a quick email from there. It's the lazy way of doing it. It is also not practical to copy/paste an address into my email client when it is on a different computer (yes, there is a way to do that, but I can't give away all my magic secrets LOL). If you are using Chrome and gmail, you can read how to do it here - https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1382847?hl=en and if you have a problem with that working let me know. There are similar "fixes" for other browsers and sbcglobal webmail. It just helps if I know which browser and which carrier you are using. I'll be happy to help anyone with this! 3. I was actually quoting a response I got from Microsoft Support when I tried to figure out why mine wouldn't do it. jane >________________________________ > From: Betsy via <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] >Sent: Wednesday, August 20, 2014 8:45 AM >Subject: Re: [TXGEN] Website Advice > > >Actually, you don't have to install an email client.  I use two >computers all the time (sitting side by side).  I have my email >client on one computer and do all my email on that >computer.  However, I occasionally want to click on a link in a web >page on the other computer and send a quick email from there.  It's >the lazy way of doing it.  It is also not practical to copy/paste an >address into my email client when it is on a different computer (yes, >there is a way to do that, but I can't give away all my magic secrets  LOL). > >If you are using Chrome and gmail, you can read how to do it here - >https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1382847?hl=en and if you >have a problem with that working let me know.  There are similar >"fixes" for other browsers and sbcglobal webmail. > >It just helps if I know which browser and which carrier you are >using.  I'll be happy to help anyone with this! > >Betsy > > >At 04:08 AM 8/20/2014, you wrote: >>It means you do not have an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc) >>installed on the computer you are using to click on the e-mail link. >>Doesn't matter what OS you have running. >> >>"mailto" links have always invoked the email client on your PC. >> >>jimmy >> >>On 8/19/2014 10:00 PM, cynthia buttram via wrote: >> > I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me with. >> > >> > First, I've been given about 80 years (1915-1995) of funeral home >> records for the Afro-American community in this area with >> permission to use them on our website.  I have a table listing >> name, date of birth, date of death, name of parents, and >> cemetery.  Then by clicking on the name, you can see the actual >> record.  You can view this at >> > >> http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txvicto2/dewittfuneralrecords.html >>    Now am I violating any laws by listing the birthdate or death >> date?  If I deleted the dates in the table, would I be able to >> still give them access to the record which has the dates?  It is >> such great info that could be very hard to find.  I really need >> some advice on how to handle this. >> > >> > Second is a computer problem.  When there is an email address on >> a website page (like contact John at [email protected] ) I can't >> just click on it to send a message.  I get this notice "Could not >> perform this operation because the default mail client is not >> properly installed."  If I copy and paste the address, it works.  I >> think it has something to do with Windows 7 from what I've >> read.  Any suggestions? >> > >> > Thanks, >> > Cynthia Buttram >> > Victoria County >> > http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txvicto2/ >> > >> > ------------------------------- >> > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >> [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the >> quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > > >> > >> >> >>------------------------------- >>To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >>[email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the >>quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > >
