Could these be links to the old archives files on rootsweb? Those have been deleted (at long last), since everything should be on www.usgwarchives.net since last year. There may have been some vital records deleted from the current site, but I'm not aware of any wholesale deletions of other types of files. The removed files include all types of records, births, deaths, cemeteries, biographies...and the list goes on. I contacted a couple of Archives managers and they confirmed that some files have been removed. That leads me to be concerned that more counties will be affected in the near future. Please check your links to individual files in the Archives for your county to see if your county is affected. I would even suggest that you link only to the county and state Archives rather than individual files since they may be removed. Here are a couple of free programs for checking for dead links: Xenu http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html And for those who would rather use a link checker that doesn't have to be downloaded, here is a link to Dead-Links.com http://www.dead-links.com/ . Please let me know if I can help in any way.
