    3. I don't have a problem with the mail form, I think they are great. I have a problem with the site being so "generic" with no About Us or even a name on the copyright. We have no clue who has this site. WhoIs is wonderful to a point, but it gives us no clue as to who we are talking to when we do the mail form, nor does it tell us if this is a pay for site, which is what I am so against sending info to. If whoever this is would clear that up, I would have no problem submitting info. But even the reply that Linda got was so generic that I would not send them anything. Yep, just call me a skeptic.......I like to deal with people, not ghosts. Elaine jimmy wrote: > Whois shows Jeff Lowe of JL Consulting in Cedar Rapids Iowa owns the > domain. 3. Found some HISTORY and NAMES <http://gpp.jlconsulting.com/history.php>! The "Gravestone Photo Project" or "GPP" was first undertaken as a single > county gravestone photo archive. Since 2002 it has grown to include separate > repositories in a over 15 states -- and is now believed to be the largest > gravestone photo repository in the world. 3. This is done by a group that started within the IAGenWeb when they started up their state project. There are some States and Tombstone Project coordinators that liked this project better than the Genrecords form that we have on USGenWeb for use within the Archives and our Tombstone Project. Unlike the USGenWeb Project, where we have our own mission statement and do not have to pay for our websites in the Archives and TP, while this group of people pay for their own space online to host these photos. What does concern me, is, what happens when this person decides that they no longer want to pay for server space? Does the website go down and all is lost in what was sent to them? I may be prejudice here, as I am the Asst. National Coordinator of the USGenWeb Tombstone Project, but, I think that sending to our own project is in our best interest, if it isn't something we want to host on our own websites. With the contributors permission, of course. I am very proud of the USGenWeb Tombstone Project and how far we have come with photos online. I know that we have some problems that we are working on, such as the need for more State File Managers, but, we are going to get there with a Project that we can all be proud of. It really has grown. I'm not sure how many tombstone Photos are in our own Project for Texas Tombstone, but I have to believe it is quite an awesome amount. When I looked at our last brochure for the USGenweb Tombstone Project, it says we have over 500,000 Tombstone Photos online, and we can take that to the bank, as MI and WI, have more than that online without including the other States. Yeah! USGenWeb! <smiles> Just my two cents, FWIW. Jan Cortez Asst.
