    3. Did you guys try the Federal government? They are always looking for Cobol programmers. We usually steal some from another agency, they up the grade and hire them back because of the shortage. Of course I'm near Austin where there's more govt agencies. They thought they didn't need you guys anymore, then along came Y2K and after that they saw the light. So because of the older programmers going to retire in the next 10 years, about 7 years ago they made a special salary scale and brought in people to learn and be up to speed. That's how I got into IT. I'm new at JCL and find there's no classes and I have to learn as I go. I have a System 390 book. From .Net to JCL, what a change. I'm also now 50 and a female. Try www.usajobs.gov. If there's nothing federal, try state. Someone is looking for your experience, even a community college to teach.
