Deb, What software do you use for creating webpages? I just looked at the coding for Llano County and there appears to be a lot of bloated coding that may be causing the page to be slow to load. I just looked at the counties on txgenweb7.org and Shirley --- On Mon, 7/20/09, Deb <ontheroadagain_52389@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Deb <ontheroadagain_52389@yahoo.com> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, July 20, 2009, 11:49 PM >From doing a quick scan of assorted counties, what I am finding is that the counties on txgenweb 5, 6, and 7 are the ones that are most affected. ~DEB~ --- On Mon, 7/20/09, Gayle Triller <gaylelt@comcast.net> wrote: From: Gayle Triller <gaylelt@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, July 20, 2009, 11:29 PM I have been working on one of my counties all evening and it is working great. Would it make a difference if the "rootsweb" url's were changed to the new format http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txloving ... ? Even though the Loving site on rootsweb.ancestry.com does the same thing as far as the link goes, it's doing it within it's own server. Perhaps since you're using resources from the outside, having to redirect the url from rootsweb to rootsweb.ancestry is slowing it down? Chris ************** What's for dinner tonight? Don't know what you mean by "bloated" ...? Most of what is there, was there when I got the counties - I've not added a large amount to them, at least not to Loving Co which was also affected. There are / were other counties messed up too, not just mine. Normally I was using MS Visual Web Developer Express but whatever I would work on didn't come out looking like it was supposed to, so I have designed some of my pgs in MS Word. Those have held the original design. The pages are coming up ok now, as they always have before. I have NEVER had any problem with the pgs loading before - only the past few days. Hopefully all of the gremlins are gone now! --- On Tue, 7/21/09, Shirley Cullum <shirlcullum@sbcglobal.net> wrote: From: Shirley Cullum <shirlcullum@sbcglobal.net> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, July 21, 2009, 12:37 AM Deb, What software do you use for creating webpages? Good Morning, Deb. Bloated code is code that has unnecessary and often duplicate instructions in it. I have been dicussing the problem with Delbert and he has been checking on it at the server end. However, he hasn't found anything yet that I am aware of. But then, I am firm believer in cyber-gremlins. <g> I am happy to learn the sites are loading correctly but please feel free to contact me if the issue pops up again.
