I've lived in Texas all my life but its size never fails to amaze me. From where I live to Pharr is over 500 miles - over 10 hours to drive. Back when I lived in Galveston County, I was traveling from Oklahoma to Arizona and we stopped at a restaurant in Amarillo. A lot of the folks there were talking about where they were from and where they were going. When I told the people I was from Houston, they called me a "local". I was over 700 miles from home.
