Billie you have asked questions I too was wondering about. When this first happened (about two weeks ago) one of my volunteers said he had gone to the cemetery map page (on my Llano Co) and it gave him an advertisement pop-up (something of course it doesn't have). I told him of the virus threat and attributed it to that. I on the other hand, have not seen this. I use Firefox browser - would never think of using Internet Explorer ever again. Virus threats are the main reason. I also use Trend Micro Internet Security System, love it - had no problems with viruses since using either Trend or Firefox ... knock on wood! I have a friend who went to that "teafor2.com" site to view cemetery photos but her anti-virus system won't let onto it ... tells her it has a Trojan virus in it. She visits numerous USGenWeb pages on a daily basis so I guess she could have picked the virus up from any one of those sites. But you are correct to ask about our patrons , what is happening to them when they click on one of our sites? But to reiterate, Firefox is great. Anyone who doesn't use it should at least try it for a period of time. Another great feature is that there are no unwanted advertisements to bug you! ~DEB~ Llano, Loving and Foard counties --- On Tue, 9/15/09, Billie Nichols Bennett <nichols1836@windstream.net> wrote: From: Billie Nichols Bennett <nichols1836@windstream.net> Subject: [TXGEN] What is keeping the state visitors from going to USGenWeb???? To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 2:20 PM This is apparently a bad situation... so what is keeping or alerting the public that they might get a virus if they click the links on our websites and go to USGenWeb? I would really hate for someone to be adversely impacted by this when it is a ongoing situation..... And, are the websites located on Rootsweb having the same problem as the TXGenWeb website/server? Just worndering... I thought some of you that are experts in this type situation might have an explanation. I am a dummy in this but have a big curiosity.
