It is with great pleasure, I announce this Month's Dedicated CC Award! This month's winners are: Gina Heffernan and Doris Harrison. Gina Heffernan joined TXGenWeb April 2002 as the CC of Rusk County and then in January 2010 adopted Armstrong County. Both of her counties have user friendly layouts, making it easy for patrons to find information on her site. Armstrong County had a link to an article called "How to find your family when no one can spell." Not only was it funny, but very helpful. Doris Harrison joined TXGenWeb January 1998 as the CC for El Paso County. El Paso County is patron friendly site, filled with lots of great resources for its visitors. One page caught my attention called "Mission Valley, 1600 Beginning," is a great article about the history of the communities of El Paso County since were originally apart of Mexico. Both Gina Heffernan and Doris Harrison have shined as "Dedicated CC's" for many years and continue to do so. Congratulations! Christina Palmer TXGenWeb ASC

Happy Belated, Shirley!! Larry, we used to have our family camp out in September for that very reason. I have 3 brothers, 1 sister, myself, my husband, a late brother in law, and a cousin's birthday in Sept. We just celebrate all month. To me it was interesting but just a bit of fluff similar to their Antiques Roadshow. The show last year "Finding Your Roots" was more focussed. Any of these shows do urge more interest in genealogy and that is great. As more people become interested there will be more data available. The "Finding Your Roots" show stressed DNA test results. As more and more people test the various databases will grow and hopefully merge into one. We will find someday that not all came to America and we have relatives all over the globe. And it is likely some of these ancestors have a lot of information we don't know about where we came from. Gale Gorman (Robertson Co.) It was certainly interesting but went so fast that I certainly had to concentrate to catch on to every word they said. However, I got some pointers from listening to them pull records together to figure out the line. When the people try to find out if they are related to Davey Crockett thru a sister Sarah, they use the Sarah Crockett who is married to John Goodgame. John Goodgame is from Henderson County! I won't spoil it and tell you if this Sarah is the sister, you will have to watch it yourself.
