    3. In many of the States, Portrait and Bio Albums were done on the different counties back in the late 1800's. Was anything like that done in Texas? I also have many websites in other states, such as University libraries that have scanned copies of old out of copyright books on genealogy and history of counties. Anything like that here in Texas? Thanks for any help. Jan

    3. Some years ago, Susan Hawkins scanned the Biographical Souvenir of the State of Texas 1889 and posted it to the TXFannin Website. There are several Counties which link to this book. I THINK it mainly references Northeast Texas families. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txfannin/s.html In the process of re-making the entire TXFannin Site, I have re-posted the Biographical Souvenir to the new site and have created an index directly hotlinked to the referenced pages. This new version can be found here: http://www.txfannin.org/book/souvenir/souvindex.html Both sites will remain active for the forseeable future but the original site will eventually come down. Those of you linked to the old site, might ought to go ahead and change your links. The Portal to Texas History has many fully scanned books available for reference. I have created a page on the TXFannin site linking to several that may interest you (and some that won't). But that will get you to the Portal and you can search for further references for your county bookshelf. http://www.txfannin.org/book/offsite.html You might also use the Google Book search http://books.google.com/bkshp?hl=en&tab=wp and the Internet Archive http://www.archive.org/index.php to search for books. Both have been excellent resources for me.
