Hi Gina, Texas State Genealogical Society published an article on "Korean War POW/MIAs - help locate families of Texas heroes for DNA testing" in December 2007 issue of STIRPES (pages 24-31). The article was submitted by Harold Gold Davis of Wilmington, NC. It gives a website http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. I talked to Mr. Davis at least once and I believe our editor at the time talked to him several times getting the article ready to print. If this is the same man, I found him creditable in trying to reunite remains with the rightful family. Kimm - Point him towards: http://www.powmia.com/ This is geared directly towards that and also has government websites listed. It sounds like a scam to me, but it might also just be that he doesn't know what to do. You could always point him to the direction of the government and say that they probably have the locations of the family members. > -----Original Message----- > From: txgen-bounces@rootsweb.com > [mailto:txgen-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Gina Heffernan > Sent: Monday, March 16, 2009 10:05 AM > To: TXGenWeb List > Subject: [TXGEN] MIA Crash Site Found > > I hate to be naive or insensitive but I've received a message > from some guy in NC who says that a guy from Arizona has > located the crash site of a WWII military plane piloted by a > guy who is still listed as MIA. I hate to be naive or insensitive but I've received a message from some guy in NC who says that a guy from Arizona has located the crash site of a WWII military plane piloted by a guy who is still listed as MIA. He wants my help locating living relatives. My thoughts are that our government would jump on something like this and the family would already be notified. Am I being too suspicious or does this sound like a scam? Gina Heffernan Rusk Co, Texas
Welcome aboard Kevin! We have a great family of CCs here at TXGenWeb, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
