    3. My Tiners were also from GA and can't be found from 1850-1870 in Early/Baker Co, GA, though a reconstructed land deed in 1898 has William buying land in 1848 and this is the only reason we know his name. DNA proved this line isn't aliens, just good hiders from the government. All the kids from this line were named William, John, Benjamin and Lewis and they named their kids those names, and dang it, so are all the older ones we find so we can't figure out which W, J, B or L is the father, grandfather, etc. Too bad they didn't carry Nicholas' name on down. Lewis and William came to TX and left John, Ben and Ida in 1880. It wasn't until 2000 that we decendants of William Sr, found each other again, through the internet, and they found out what happened to those 2 boys (one being my ancestor). We can blame Sherman for not finding our much needed documentation in GA. 3. I purchased The Master Genealogist Gold several years ago and liked it. Regrettably, I never converted my data over from FTM. I guess I've just gotten comfortable with the FTM way of doing things. I'm probably several versions behind on my TMG and my old one may not work with Vista. Recommend Legacy Family Tree, RootsMagic and The Master Genealogist. They are more robust packages than Family Tree Maker. The new 2009 is very sluggish and does weird things under the XP environment. Jean Smoorenburg Montgomery County

    3. Believe me, you are lucky you have a clue where they came from. I have been stuck in 1803 Ga (McCoy line) and 1822 Ala (Jones line) for over 26 years. These folks fell from a UFO. I can't tell you how many trips I have made all over the US chasing the slightest hint of info, lost count of pro researchers I have hired in far off places, done the dna testing, enlisted help of 3 other cousins with the research, and we don't know one more thing today than I knew 26 years ago. Yeah, you are real lucky in my book. Elaine Robin Inge wrote: > I'm not sure about luck, but I sure am excited. This means a lot to me as my mother and I had been astranged for about 33 years.
