Visit Estes Cemetery in Tarrant County for another idea on displaying a large group of photographs with thumbnails. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txtarran/cemetery/estes/estes_cemetery_photos.htm The thumbnails and the captions are simply screen prints from a Windows Explorer folder. I turned off file extensions and let Explorer do the sorting and the captions. I forced the first 4 photos to the top by temporarily remaining them 1.jpg, 2.jpg etc. before the sort and replacing the proper filename after the sort. I used image mapping to link each thumbnail to its full size photo. Yes I tried the site as well, don't like it either. --- On Fri, 4/17/09, Elaine <McStumped@suddenlink.net> wrote: From: Elaine <McStumped@suddenlink.net> Subject: [TXGEN] New Texas Gravestone Photos site To: "txgen" <txgen@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, April 17, 2009, 3:43 PM There is something about this "new" site that bothers me. http://texastombstones.org/ If it is new, why does the copyright say 2003-2009? And why can you not find a name anywhere for who "ownes" the site, or a name to call them when you contact them? And it is obviously so new they don't have any names in the database because when you search for Jones or Smith or any other name, it returns no results. So if it is that new, how can it have been copyrighted since 2003 yet contain no info? They don't know how to spell TXGenWeb either. LOL If we can't determine who has the site, then how do we know what will be done with the info we submit? Will it be sold in books, on cds, or be placed in some places database, such as Ancestry? They won't even give so much as an email address. No thanks. Think I will pass until they decided to at least give their info to the public. This site made me very suspicious. Suzanne, you DO have my permission (if needed) to take my photos that I've done in San Augustine Co cemeteries and place them up for viewing on the new site you're creating .... in fact, PLEASE take them! I have done so many photos in East Texas cemeteries over the past 6 - 8 years only to have them vanish into cyberspace. Where they've gone I don't know, but it is so aggravating, frustrating and disheartening. All that work, time & effort, not to mention gasoline ... all for nothing. So yes, if you can salvage my photos , please do. ~DEB~ Llano CC --- On Fri, 4/17/09, Suzanne Sowell <suzanne0211@gmail.com> wrote: From: Suzanne Sowell <suzanne0211@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] Help with photos To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Friday, April 17, 2009, 12:50 PM Thank you, I had no idea there were photos out there. Suzanne, Your plan sounds like a winner to me. By linking to the actual photo instead of putting the photo or a thumbnail with the listing, the cemetery page will load much faster. So many researchers are still using older computers, so the less graphics/photos on a page the better. You are doing a great job! We appreciate all you are doing for the researchers! Hi Everyone, I would like to ask everyone a favor.... Please take a minute to visit the link for Raegan's Walkers below and read about our cause and why it is important to us. My (future) step-daughter has Cystic Fibrosis and last year her aunt and I formed "RAEGAN'S WALKERS" and joined the Sooner-Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. On our team page is information about CF, and Raegan. There is a video at the beginning that you can watch that will help you understand a little about what Raegan and our family goes through daily with this illness. Since the illness only affects about 300,000 young children and adults, it's not one of those HOT TOPICS that major corporations is jumping to support and fund research. Therefore, it is up to friends and family of the patients to get the word out and support the foundation to help find new drug therapies and hopefully one day a cure. So, If you have an extra min to stop by and learn a little please do so. If you happen to have an extra $1.00 to deposit into our team fund at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation we would greatly appreciate it. If not and you can pass the information along to a few friends who might that would be great too. Our walk is going to be held in Oklahoma City on May 10, 2009... YES! The Saturday before Mother's Day! I can't think of any better way to spend it. If you happen to live in the area and would like to join our team... let me know. I could use a few new team members. http://walkersforlife.blogspot.com/ Robin R Inge "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away"

Dear Sir or Madam, I'm emailing you on behalf of Jan Hearn Davenport, the local planning chair of the 2009 Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) national conference. We'd like to take this opportunity to remind you of this wonderful upcoming opportunity, about which we previously sent you a packet of information. This year's FGS conference, "A Passage Through Time," will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas, from 2-5 September. Information about the conference--including a copy of the conference program and a registration form, along with a constantly update blog offering rich resources for prospective conference attendees--is on the FGS website at <http://www.fgs.org/2009conference> http://www.fgs.org/2009conference/. We hope that you and your organization or society's members will be able to attend this important conference. As you'll note when you read our program, the conference will make available a wide range of resources of interest to historians in general and family historians in particular. If you would please make information about "A Passage Through Time" available to your group and/or patrons through newsletters, e-newsletters, or in other formats, we would be very grateful. Please don't hesitate to contact Jan Hearn Davenport at jhdavenport@comcast.net if you have questions. Thank you for your attention to this email. Sincerely, William D. Lindsey
