    3. The only thing about putting names in a database is that they have to use the exact spelling to pull a person up. Do you have a work around for this? Any way to do soundex or something? For instance in Bastrop Co the records have names spelled each and every variation of the surname. I ended up putting a list an excel spreadsheet, by last name, first name, type of record, dates, etc and sorting it by name and type of record and a person can look in there to see what record is available, under the different spellings. Just a remedy I used for that problem. I also started putting all my cemetery records on FindAGrave. Others in the area have become active in adding or updating cemetery information here as well, using this site. People can then upload pictures or other information. I've gotten a lot of requests to link parents with children, put in maiden names, so it has become a community endeavor and I've had surprises as to whom married who. This has been nice as so much more information can be added than if I just had it on a static webpage, corrections are easy and I can turn it over to a relative to maintain, if needed. I still have the original cemetery information on the site. 3. Hey John, That's precisely what I am researching right now, though I've already moved the site to HostMonster. Not sure if I will use MySQL or an Access database, though. My webhost does support MySQL. I am transition from FrontPage to Expression Web currently. I'd love to hear some ideas on the subject. I'm hoping to give database to my cemetery coordinator, so when she updates the cemetery info, the webpages refresh automatically. What i am wondering about is taking my cemetery data and putting it into a Data Base (MySQL) or something similar so that when someone comes to the website they can search Kinney County burials and will find what cemetery and if there are photo's of the gravesite. Any help greatly appreciated, it will be my first DB since COBOL days in another life. -- John Quigley E-Mail: jquigley2@gmail.com http://www.1and1.com/?affiliate_id=108813 ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TXGEN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. I am looking to make my site one big db, I don't have a lot of stuff yet but am working on gettting marriages, births as well as brands and other types of info and want to set it up so folks can access the data from a query page based in surnames, first names. Of course that might not be a good idea, and I understand that I will need to learn php in order to make this work. The database has not yet moved to txfannin.org, so I'd have to send you a link.
