    3. I guess they are working on the problem, and apparently in alphabetical order, maybe (?) My Llano pg just came back up the way it is supposed to, and Loving came up too, just kinda'  slower than normal. Thanks to whoever is working on it! ~DEB~

    3. Hummm ... wonder if it's mostly on those from txgenweb5 ...?? No one has commented on this area. I'm not having trouble working on my counties, just can't access them like a patron would if I were searching for something. It HAS to be the server. I say that because I can go to the old RW pgs where Ancesrty is the service provider and the counties come up fine. When I click on any of the links that will redirect people to the newer TXGenWeb sites, it works fine .... problem is you can't initially get anywhere via using our TXGenWeb address links. --- On Mon, 7/20/09, Gayle Triller <gaylelt@comcast.net> wrote: From: Gayle Triller <gaylelt@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, July 20, 2009, 11:29 PM I have been working on one of my counties all evening and it is working great.  Mine are on txgenweb2. 3. Well it is now after 10pm central time and my counties still don't come up. I used the web wait testing link that another CC posted and it did as she said it would, however the effect goes away quickly and then it gets slow again, or as it is now, just plain doesn't load. When mine did load it was taking between 3.5 to 5 full minutes for just the home page to be viewable. I might add that I tried to pull them up using different browsers as well - Firefox and Internet Explorer (I use Firefox almost exclusively) - neither worked. ~DEB~ --- On Sun, 7/19/09, jimmy <jimmy@txsanpatricio.org> wrote: From: jimmy <jimmy@txsanpatricio.org> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 6:35 PM The txgenweb5.org was slow this morning, and still is.  It's acting like the bandwidth monitor has kicked in, but Shirley will need to tell us for sure if that's the case.  If the monitor is the reason, then it will most likely go back to normal around 8pm central time. jimmy Shirley Cullum wrote: > Deb, >        > I just completed a random check of counties on the txgenweb.org server. 3. Here's a site you can use to test how long it is taking a site to load. This would give you and accurate and unbiased picture to share with Darrell as needed. http://webwait.com It even has a button you can drag to your menu bar so you can test on the fly if a specific page is not loading. My txfannin.org site is also hosted by Active Web Hosting and I sometimes have problems with pages not loading. I use a different tab to go to a different site (to test MY connection) then come back and TXFannin loads right up. Can't explain it... 3. Well now isn't that odd!! I used it and then Llano pg came right back up and worked as it should - loaded fast. I then tried it on Loving Co - it did not work on it, which I thought was really strange because there just isn't hardly any data on that county in my files. It still doesn't load correctly. I haven't had any problems with my counties up to this point. Then a few days ago (towards the end of this week) they just didn't load. Same story for a bunch of others I was looking through that on this server. Thanks for the tip about Web Wait! ~DEB~ --- On Sun, 7/19/09, Suzie Henderson <henderson.suzie@gmail.com> wrote: From: Suzie Henderson <henderson.suzie@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 5:36 PM Here's a site you can use to test how long it is taking a site to load. 3. Thanks for the replies. Even when I do hit "refresh", repeatedly, some don't want to come up. As you say, the gremlins are busy at work I guess. --- On Sun, 7/19/09, Katy Hestand <etwenthome@gmail.com> wrote: From: Katy Hestand <etwenthome@gmail.com> Subject: Re: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 2:49 PM Deb, A lot of pages haven't been loading.  My site server was down for 24 hours almost.  The last few days I have been working on a lot of sites and pages don't display until you refresh them and then they may not come up until you do it 2 or 3 times.  The gremlins seem to be out hot and heavy right now. 3. Deb,       I just completed a random check of counties on the txgenweb.org server. The txgenweb5.org counties, which include Llano and Loving, were the only ones that were slow to load. I will check with Delbert but I assume there is some work going on.   Shirley --- On Sun, 7/19/09, Deb <ontheroadagain_52389@yahoo.com> wrote: From: Deb <ontheroadagain_52389@yahoo.com> Subject: [TXGEN] slow loading pgs To: txgen@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, July 19, 2009, 2:17 PM Has anyone else (during the past few days) been having trouble with slow loading county pages, or even non-loading pages?? 3. Did you guys try the Federal government? They are always looking for Cobol programmers. We usually steal some from another agency, they up the grade and hire them back because of the shortage. Of course I'm near Austin where there's more govt agencies. They thought they didn't need you guys anymore, then along came Y2K and after that they saw the light. So because of the older programmers going to retire in the next 10 years, about 7 years ago they made a special salary scale and brought in people to learn and be up to speed. That's how I got into IT. I'm new at JCL and find there's no classes and I have to learn as I go. I have a System 390 book. From .Net to JCL, what a change. I'm also now 50 and a female. Try www.usajobs.gov. If there's nothing federal, try state. Someone is looking for your experience, even a community college to teach. We photographed the headstone in 2001, and wondered about the circle, but didn't find out what the letters meant until this year.
