    1. Re: [TXGALVES] Master List of 1900 Storm Victims
    2. Shelly, I am Michael A. Salinas the Founder and President of The Galvez Society for Hispanic Genealogy. I have a great aunt who was killed in the 1900 storm that night before going to have her first communion photos which were to be taken on the next day. I have searched high and low over the course of some 10 years trying to find a reference for her in the papers. No such luck..I started with the first page of the news the mini reduced one, and went through every listing..She was one of the ones that remained unknown or was washed out to sea. I have been trying to get her added to a listing somewhere but did not know how to go about it. The sad part is that her father my great-grandfather, was with the crews that helped to recover bodies and take them to the cemetaries, during the clean up, the only thing they found was her doll carriage that was crushed into some debris outside a block away from the home she was staying in to do the photo the next morning. Her name was Maria Virgina Mercedes Longoria, and she was 8 years old. I have her baptism certificate from St. Marys Church which is dated 1895. My family moved to Galveston in the 1890's from South Texas. I would like to more about what I could do to help document the Hispanic Families in Galveston, if you have any ideas let me know. Thank you Michael Salinas
