To Jim Turner, thanks so much for your information re City Directories and the dates available. My ancestor came very early 1846 to Galveston and by 1850 Census, I find him in Austin County. Perhaps he advertised in the local newpaper in Galveston as he was an attorney. Or alternatively, maybe a Tax List or Court Records for his admission to the Texas Bar. Any guidance appreciated. Tom
