    1. [TXGALVES] MILLER, DAVIS, BLAKELY/Mobile&Galveston

    3. Hi Jim, It sounds like some of your Mobile families were French. Were they from Quebec? I asked about your MILLER because I'm trying to find out something about George Poe MILLER, b. Washington Co., PA 27 Feb. 1798, d. Mobile 26 Mar. 1869. He was married to 1.?) Eliza DAVIS (b. London, England, d. 1 Mar. 1856 - daughter of George DAVIS, Sr.) and 2.?) Ann ___. I don't know if there were any other wives. I'm actually trying to find out something about Eliza and George DAVIS, but thought maybe Eliza and George MILLER may have had children whose descendants were out there somewhere. Eliza's brother, Isaac DAVIS married a girl from Montreal, Matilda Sophia BLAKELY, in 1841. They are my gg grandparents, and moved to Galveston in 1860, both dying not long after arriving there. Matilda's father was either "Col." or "Councilia" George BLAKELY. (Lots of Georges!) If you know something about French names, would you happen to know what "Councilia" means? I'd like to find out if George Blakely had some kind of government job in Quebec. I think he may have been a Loyalist who went to Canada from I don't know where. I don't have any info on him. Thanks for any input. Marianne Jim wrote: >P.S.
