Or can the information be accessed from other places, e.g., public library/Family History Library? Tkx for educating me. . . Sally

    2. Jim Turner
    3. Hi all.... I am following a small tidbit of a lead, hence my subscription to your list. My great grandfathers brother James Norman KELLY married a woman by the name of Louise GORDON. They were last known to have lived in Harris County at his untimely death in 1909. They were married about 1900. I have only been able to find of one instance of a Louise GORDON and she is listed in the 1880 Galveston County Census. I am at a brickwall like many of you are. If anyone has any info or knows where I might be able to find Louise I would appreciate any and all help. Thank you....Mike firewalker@gibralter.net

When looking at a difficult-to-read microfilm record, place a sheet of light yellow copy paper on the screen; and the readability will be improved. Similarly, if you are looking at a difficult to read copy of a microfilm record, place a sheet of yellow cellophane over it.

    3. I am searching for a female BIRDSONG who was possibly born in Galveston or Harris County between the years of 1948 and 1950. Up until two years ago, my mother, Georgia Nadine BIRDSONG, never knew who her father was. After searching for quite sometime, I finally discovered that he was Robert Walker BIRDSONG, born in Alabama in 1910. After receiving copies of his military records, I also discovered that he had an older daughter from his first marriage named Dorothy (Dottie) Verlon BIRDSONG (my mother's half sister). Now, after alot of searching again, I found her living in MS. She tells me that my mother has a full sister that was 1-3 years younger than my mother but doesn't know what her name is/was. She also said that she remembers the two girls being placed in the Galveston County Orphanage at one time. This female BIRDSONG's father would have been Robert Walker BIRDSONG and her mother, Georgia Henrietta HEMPHILL. They were married in the 40's and lived in the Houston and Galveston areas. My mother was born in Houston at the Jefferson Davis Hospital which leads me to believe that her sister may have been born there as well. 2. Winifred Howard
    3. Hi, I don't know where you live, but Texas has an index to birth records. It only lists the persons name and date of birth and county of birth. It is indexed by year and I think up till 1975. It is on microfilm at Clayton Library in Houston. If the girls were born at Jefferson Davis Hospital which has been torn down you could get the birth certificate copy from the City of Houston Bureau of Vital Statistics. Jeff Davis was the County Hospital, but since it was in the city limits the records would be with the City of Houston. I am looking for a half-brother myself and I recently got information from the State of Texas regarding the Central Adoption Registry for Texas. You can get information from their website www.tdh.state.tx.us/bvs. Bureau of Vital Statistics Central Adoption Registry (ZZ055) P.O.
