I checked my Czech database and found the name Markovy but no Frank or Joseph and all prior to 1900. The Markovys I found were from Frenstat & Trojanovice in the book "Tam za morem je Amerika" Rosemary Ermis RErmis@compuserve.com Alvin, TX Message text written by INTERNET:TXGALVES-L@rootsweb.com >My grandfather, Frank A. P.S. According to David Stick's book on "The Lost Colony", a minerals technician living in England, an alchemist, was sent to examine the area for potential mineral wealth. Mr. Stick gives the man's name, and says he was a Jewish Czech--thus the first Jew and Czech in N.C. Jim, Charlotte, N.C. ----- Original Message ----- From: Judith M. A new message, "Old Armco Employee Records 1915-35," was posted by Dan Banks on Fri, 15 Oct 1999, on the Galveston County, Texas, Genealogy web page Queries section: Surname: Young, Benjamin Submitted by: Dan Banks EMAIL: dlbnx@infinet.com DATE: Oct 15 1999 Trying to find out information on my grandfather Stephen Young...My Mother and her sisters were placed into a catholic orphanage in Ashland Ky., following the death of their mother Jane "Benjamin" Young. My G.father worked for Armco and traveled between Galveston and Ashland plants. I know little of his history and have just started...My mother and her sisters are deceased...and were just children when my Grandfather passed away, so very little information was theirs to pass on. One of my aunts I believe was named Margaret Young and also died suddenly at or close to age of 15 while in Galveston area 1925-35. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Dan
Hello List: I am a new subscriber. Please advise if I'm not posting correctly. In the meantime, I would greatly appreciate any info on the following 2 elusive ancestors: Mary RICHARDSON, b. 1855 in "Texas W America", according to the Douglas, Isle of Man 1881 census. Mary was the d/o Daniel RICHARDSON, a newspaper editor. He was born circ. 1832 (probably also in Texas somewhere). Mary emigrated to the Isle of Man (date unknown) and married my great grandfather, Henry Edward Bell in 1882. The Douglas, Isle of Man 1891 Census records Mary's place of birth as "America". I'm searching as many Texas towns, cities, countys as possible. Many thanks for any info anyone may possibly be able to supply. Pat, Mission, B.C.
There were some Seidels living at Mason, Texas afew years ago. Try records there.
I hope I am not too late for your offer. I need the name of August von Bieberstein. It may also be speeled various ways, even "v. Biebestein" and may just be under Bieberstein/Beverstein/Beberstein,etc. Thank you very much.
