    1. [TXFREEST] Ellis Island Passenger Lists
    2. I read about this in our local newspaper, but also, just received this from another list. Hope it helps someone in their research. Joyce F. Concerning a web site to research the passanger lists from Ellis Island, many sites which have some, but certainly not all, passenger lists. Here are some: > http://members.aol.com/rprost/passenger.html > http://www.execpc.com/~haroldr/shiplist.htm > http://members.aol.com/ascaife/ships.html But here's the really exciting news. I am passing this on from another list: The database of the 12 million immigrants who came through Ellis Island is now scheduled to open at the Ellis Island American Family Immigration History Center in early April 2001, but they also suggested that one check around that time if anyone is planning a visit just to make sure. The Internet access version will "go online" at the same time. More info for those who don't know (this will allow access to the passenger info for the un-indexed years before 1897 at Ellis Island so if someone arrived 1892-1897, you will find them in the new database) -- please see http://www.ellisisland.org/history.html Telephone 212-883-1986
