    3. Okay, I finally got in touch with my Aunt Mary Helen and she tells me that it was Mr. Tom Yerby, who (per local legend) single handedly held the armed bank robbers at bay at Grandpa White's store. She said this must have been about 1934. She said the Yerby family lived in a house at or near where Grace Tabernacle is now. Mrs. Lucy Yerby always wore a hat to church and loved flowers. She recalls that Mr. Tom Yerby was a county constable and occasionally imbibed (despite prohibition). She remembers children Marvin, Evie (married a Lancaster), Annie (married Bob ? and lived in Arp, TX). She also vaguely remembers a story about Bonnie and Clyde coming through Dew, but not if this was the same time. Ann, Have you ever heard the story about when the Gypsies came to Dew? My aunts (especially Mary Helen DeShazo) have lots of stories heard about and lived through all surrounding the Dew area. Maybe we can get them to give a program for our genealogy meeting sometime in the future. It could be interesting!
