Reports are that Ernest, who had been picking cotton near Crockett was coming to town and several being in the car, he was ridding on the fender. In the outskirts of Crokett a car traveling at a rapid rate knocked the boy from the fender and he fell about 40 feet away. He was so badly injured, death soon resulted. The car that struck him did not stop, but it is reported that an arrest was made. Ernest was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. CHERRY of Steward Mills. His body was brought here and buried in the Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin.
