    3. I found St. Elmo in Freestone county... here's what the handbook of texas on line said: St. Elmo is on Farm Road 416 in northern Freestone County. About 1849 the area was settled by families from Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. A school opened around 1850 but was closed during the Civil War. I don't know where that is - I've never been to Freestone County that I remember. Hope this helps you.... there is probably a cemetary there. frankie "Kathye [Payne] Upham" wrote: > Posted on: Freestone County Queries > Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Freestone/10586 > > Surname: EPPS, ENGLISH, ANDERSON, WHETSTONE, NUNNELEE > ------------------------- > > Hi! early Freestone Co settlers Murraney [ENGLISH] m Joshua EPPS - they > are buried in St Elmo. > Aunt Murraney was sister of my gg-g/m Hannah [ENGLISH] who married William > English ANDERSON 1859 Tx & sister of Salina > [ENGLISH] 1m A.J.
