The History of Freestone County, Texas; Vol. I, p. 223 Lafayette Houston "Fate" Adkins was born in AL in 1851. The family moved to LA. Just before the Civil War, the father left his family and came to TX but was killed in TX and never returned. The mother and her children: Fate, Aggrippa "Grip," Sue, & Nanny came to Freestone Co. after the Civil War. Fate married Martha Melissa Black; Grip married Sallie Eugenia Lancaster; Sue Mourning m. Robert Johnson; Nanny m. a Goodwin. All lived in the Dew/Lanely area of the county but many of their descendants moved to OK. Perhaps someone else on the list can provide you with the names of the parents. Mike
