David RUTHERFORD'S son, John Wesley Phillip RUTHERFORD was married to Sarah "Sally" WARD MURRAY (lived and died in Rice, Texas aft. leaving Lawrence Co., Ala. abt. 1885), who was a grt. granddaughter of Angelina GUNN WARD COMPTON, who was in Freestone County, Texas. What I am curious about is any of the other mentioned surnames in the estate and information that may be available regarding the RUTHERFORD'S, MURRAY'S (father of Sarah Ward Murray was John Anthony Lewis MURRAY, b. VA. d.ABT 1880 Lawrence, Ala., wife was Sarah Ann WARD, daughter of Angelina GUNN WARD & Ansel WARD), WARD'S. I have made contact with relatives of GUNN & COMPTON, good info has been shared. She left as her heirs William GIBBONS, Amanda DANIEL and the children of Emmett GIBBONS deceased, who were James M., and Emmett N., William W., Josephine Alice REED and Martha Ann, wife of John B. CASEY. These persons lived in Freestone County, Texas. Amamda DANIEL died leaving as heirs; Martha Ann, wife of J. W. THOMAS, Nancy C. DAVIS (a widow) and B. A. SPENCER (a son by a second husband). Martha Ann THOMAS, Nancy C. DAVIS lived in Cherokee County, Texas. B. A. SPENCER lived in Freestone County, Texas. Brother of James RUTHERFORD died leaving surviving him: William G., Horace, Thomas, George RUTHERFORD and Mary wife of James PEARSON and Mary SIMMONS being the only child of his deceased daughter Nancy SIMMONS. James RUTHERFORD died owning 100 acres of land in Giles County, TN. Cause brought for sale of land for distribution among heirs. The children of Griffin RUTHERFORD lived in Lawrence County, Alabama.
